MY BIGGEST FEAR

We often come across things which makes us curious and leaves us wondering about answers to some of the most difficult questions. Those questions generally sound cliche and too easy to understand and sometimes some people do have a clear cut answers to those questions but other times people are left contemplating about their entire existence due to those petty questions.

Recently, I came across one of those questions. Last week late at night, around 3 a.m. , I was unable to sleep and was drowning in my deep thoughts. Among all the questions I had for myself, one of them caught my attention and didn't let me sleep.

"What's my biggest fear?" I questioned myself.
Thoughts started flowing in my chaotic mind like a river, all at once. "Is it the fear of losing my close ones? Or is it the darkness? Is it the demon in those haunted movies? Or is it the demon in my head of not having that degree?"
All at once these thoughts wrapped my head, making it too gloomy and suffocating for me to think any further.

After thinking straight for hours, I realised my biggest fear.

I believe our biggest fear is the absence of that motive or purpose in our life that makes us show up everyday no matter how difficult or hard our life is. The feeling of being deprived of our biggest reason to live is our greatest fear.

For some people that motive could be their friends or parents, and loosing them could be their biggest fear. For others it may be loosing their money or the chance to make more money. For some it may be the fact that they lost the biggest opportunity to become the world's greatest footballer or loosing the world championship, it could be anything.

Each human has a purpose in life, a motive to keep going on and to not quit. And the feeling of not being able to go after that motive gives us chills and becomes our biggest fear.

After thinking for hours I realised that my Greatest fear is the Fear of being Ordinary.
I fear of being just an average human, and getting lost in the crowd.
The thought that the world might never be able to acknowledge what I have to offer gives me chills. The dream to do something extraordinary and to stand-out makes me wake up every morning and show up no matter how low I may be. The zeal to bring a postive change in people's lives keeps me motivated.

However, we all have times when this zeal is not enough to keep going in life, at times like those, I practice what I learnt from the renowned writer Robin Sharma "tough love."
In his book 'who will cry when you die?" he says practice tough love because getting tough with yourself is actually a very loving gesture. The tougher we are on ourselves, the easier life will be on us.

"The tragedy of life is not death, but what we let die inside of us while we live."

It's okay to have fears, but it's not okay to give in to your fears. We should use our fears to our advantage and make it our sword to get ahead in life. Never trust your fears, they don't know your strength.
Do what your fear the most, and become fearless.

What is your biggest fear? How do you cope up with it?
