LGBTQ 🌈
We all have heard a lot about the LGBTQ community, what exactly is it?
LGBTQ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer.
These terms are used to describe a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity.
Lesbian
A woman whose physical, romantic and emotional attraction is towards other women.
Gay
People whose physical, romantic and emotional attraction is towards the same gender or one's own gender.
Bisexual
A person who has the capacity to form physical, romantic and emotional attractions towards the same gender or with another gender.
Transgender
The word “transgender” – or trans – is an umbrella term for people whose gender identity is different from the sex assigned to them at birth. Some of them take hormones or have surgery to change their gender as part of their transition, while others may change their pronouns or appearance.
Queer
People whose sexual orientation is not exclusively heterosexual. Those who identify as queer, the terms lesbian, gay, and bisexual are perceived to be too limiting for them.
What it's like being LGBT?
It's almost like living your entire life in a closet. Being LGBTQ is considered to be a sin and not humanly. People who are not aware about LGBTQ believes that it's a choice these people made for themselves and not that they were born with it just like other humans.
The fight is real for them, the time they realize that they ain't straight they fight and question themselves and if by any chance they conquer their storm, then real fight begins, the fight with the world. Now it's them VS the whole world. They don't even expect their parents or best friends to understand them. WHY? Because people consider that being LGBTQ is abnormal or a sin or sometimes even a sexual problem which requires some medical treatment.
Now imagine if people question your sexuality and makes your entire existence a sin. That's the last thing you wanna feel, obviously!
These people have to go through a series of humiliation in their entire life. It starts the very moment they know they are not straight.
We live in a world where the words "lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender" are used to insult or disrespect someone. People without even realizing or sometimes even with an intent pass some scurrilous and lewd comments about LGBTQ Community. It's almost like referring to all non-masculine acts as gay and non-feminine as lesbian.
Over the past decade, LGBT people have gained more and more tolerance and acceptance in India, especially in large cities.
Gay and lesbian people are featured in movies and on television - not as novelty characters, but as full participants in society.
But the community still faces a lot of discrimination and are fighting for acceptance.
People could not stop ranting about someone they love but their definition of love changes if two people of the same gender love each other. Why is it so hard for people to understand that LOVE IS LOVE. Why would people rather see men holding guns and not hands?
